Be a Hero for a Child in Your Community

CASA stands for “Court-Appointed Special Advocates”

The Sixth Circuit CASA (Central South Dakota CASA) program trains qualified adults to serve as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children. The CASA volunteer has a Court Order appointing them as the advocate for the children in a specific Abuse & Neglect case. CASA volunteers advocate in court, providing factual information about the best interests of the child and any concerns about the parents’ ability to provide a safe home.

CASA gives a child a voice in Court

The CASA volunteer has one case at a time, and the average time of a CASA case is 11 months.

The Mission of the Sixth Circuit CASA Program is to promote and protect the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings through the advocacy efforts of trained volunteers.
